This is a delicate dessert wine. Well balanced with intense fruity notes, it is perfect for sharing on cold rainy days.
The full range of flavours was carefully extracted from the grapes, then pressed with a traditional basket press.
Cathedral Peak vineyard sits in KwaZulu-Natal’s, Drakensberg National Park, South Africa’s most dramatic landscape. It is dominated by the jagged peaks of the mighty Drakensberg mountain range. One of South Africa’s 8 World Heritage Sites, the Drakensberg National Park covers 250,000 hectares, starting in the north of the province at Cathedral Peak and curving southwards, clinging to the Lesotho border, all the way to Bushman’s Nek.
We are blessed with a unique terroir here in the central Drakensberg. The area is a summer rainfall area and active growth is from late September To March. In this period we get 934 heat units with a high of some 32°C in January and February. The mountains with its sheer cliffs creates anabatic and catabatic wind flows that sends cool night breeze over the vines.
